consistency

this seems to be one of the newer themes in my life. mostly in dealing with faithfulness. consistency in faithfulness.

i think its easy for me to come down hard on myself about this particular area in my life. the other day in my bible study that i'm working through God (or the holy spirit) posed the question to me, if Jesus were to look back into your life what would He see? would he have cause for rejoicing or weeping?

so i began to look back. and to be honest, its not a real steady journey. my faith walk sure has been one of ups and downs. but the thing that God showed me through this is that even though i have stumbled and i will stumble again, my heart's desire has stayed the same. i thought that was pretty cool.

i was sitting at church on saturday night and once again this idea of consistency in your faithfulness came up in the sermon. i think God's trying to get me to pay attention to this idea of being faithful in a consistent manner. to maybe be a steward in my walk with Christ.

this morning at work we have a weekly monday devotional. we watched an andy stanley podcast about faith. this dealt with faith when God's answer is no. i haven't really processed that yet but it gave me lots of material to think about.

by a strange line of events (meaning, God's hand in my plans) i ended up at mrs. francis' house last night. describing mrs. francis to you would be difficult. she's the typical matriarch of the church. 85 and on fire for the Lord. she will tell you exactly what you need to hear even when you don't want to hear it. she suggested to us (my friend heidi and me) to read phillipeans. and i only read 6 verses but its all i needed to read to let me know that God's with me and He's not letting go.
