boy, was i wrong.
in the past 2 weeks, i've learned more "real life" stuff than all my years at school but especially in college. i'm very thankful for my college experience and for the education i recieved. also that i was even able to go and didn't have to take out to many student loans to pay for it. i mention all of this because college doesn't really prepare you for the work force. yes, it teaches you all the book knowledge that you may need to know but not a lot of the hands on stuff. anyways, i digress.
if you have known me for any amount of time, you know i'm a pretty quiet person. i like to take in whats going on around me rather than actually participate in it. and i can be a bit of a social recluse. i have great friends and i love each of them dearly. but i prefer times of being alone. while this is part of my makeup, it doesn't work so much in the working world.
i.have.had.to.learn.to.talk.to.others.
i was pretty much thrown into the position i currently have with a day of training and told ok, good luck. another thing about me, i don't like to not know whats going on or whats going to happen. but i'm learning to adjust. i'm learning how to carry on a converstation with a complete stranger.
and you know what? i don't hate it. part of me actually enjoys it. and plus its amazing what people will tell you if you just let them talk. this new found learnin' has given me the courage to try other things to.
for example, i went to a newcomer's fellowship at the church i've been attending. this is extremely, very, and any other very descriptive word you can find, out of characteristic of me. (and i had fun).
i'm also learning about what interests me and what doesn't interest me in an office. i'm learning all about office politics. and being a front desk person allows me to see some of the intersting sides of a business.
so maybe there is something to this learnin' thing after all.
