there's always one or two friends that you have that no matter what happens in life, you are still friends. you can pick up right where you left off even if its been months, years even. things change. you change. they change. but the relationship is still there.
as a kid, you are sometimes thrown together with other kids because the moms are friends. sometimes you like the other kids, sometimes you don't. and sometimes the relationships you build with those kids last a lifetime.
my friend, bonnie, aka pookie, has been one of my closest friends longer than i can remember. shes the only face that reoccurs in all my birthday photos. shes the only one that i can lay on my kitchen floor with for hours and talk about nothing but end up talking about everything.
then she moved to china.
and while i love that she has that adventurous spirit. i miss her. its been almost 2 years since she moved. sometimes it feels like just yesterday and other times it feels like 10 years. she came home last year for christmas and surprised me at work. the kids were all sleeping and her mom walked in the door. and i could form no thought as to why she was at my work. then in walked pooks. we screamed, started hugging, and then the tears came. but time passed quickly and she was off to the china land for another year.
our lives have taken 2 completely different paths. an occasional email or facebook chat conversation was the only methods of communication we were using. until..
last night. with the purchase of a webcam and a download of skype, i was able to have a real conversation with her. it was such a blessing to be able to hear her voice.
and we were able to pick up right where we left off. b/c thats what we do.
